iPhone 0s 3.0 battery issue / testing July 18, 2009

Well, I got the  3GS and well.. i’m a victim of the speculated low battery life with OS 3.0

It just does NOT last!

anyway, from playing around with it a bit i’ve noticed the battery meter fluctuates between 98% and 100% while charging.
The only thing I can conclude from this is that the battery is not draining as fast but Apple have mucked around with the battery meter and it’s giving a false indication of the true battery remaining.

i.e. the battery meter will show you have 5% remaining, and hence shut down the phone when you might have really 50% or more battery remaining.

Well Vodafone had a promotion earlier offering a ‘Free Docking Station’ . Anyway, ever since the 3GS came out, they pulled out that promtion. Reasons unkown.

So I call the CSR and hey! they are still offering it customers who ask for it !

Call 0800 837 867 – and just mention the free docking station offer, give them your order number, and vola! they should mail one out to you.

Bare in mind I don’t expect this offer to last any further than Friday this week so be in quick !

Three month’s free Internet access on your mobile with Vodafone

Vodafone customers know the Internet has gone mobile and with its great plans, Vodafone is connecting customers to the Internet from their mobiles from almost anywhere in the country.

With Vodafone’s 3G coverage now available in 97% of the places New Zealander’s live, work and play, it’s easy to browse your favourite websites on your mobile – and so many kiwis are already doing so.

In June, Vodafone saw 665,084 unique users access the Internet by mobile and now, for the next three months, new Vodafone customers can dive in and surf the net from their mobiles for free.

Customers who sign up to selected Vodafone On Account plans or a new Vodafone Prepay connection between 13 July and 12 October 2009 will receive free Broadband Lite (100MB per month) for their first three months.

Want the iPhone 3G|S| without a plan on July 10th? July 8, 2009

*apologies for misleading previously* – Vodafone hadn’t announced anything at the time. This announcement came at 11.07am on the Vodafone Forums.

Vodafone have stated..

So for those ordering online… we will deliver on Saturday (normally we’d wait till Monday but for you… Saturday).
However, if you’re in Auckland and you order before 11am, you can pay an extra $25 and get it delivered ON FRIDAY.
This is Auckland only, but means you can get your mitts on the iPhone 3GS on the day of sale.

Hence, you can ONLY have it on the 10th of July IF you live in  Auckland and you manage to get in your sale by 11am. The site is going to have a LOT of traffic, so I would suggest not leaving it until 10.45am! Do keep in mind it is an extra $25 on Friday although Free delivery on Saturday (don’t ask me how that works).

I spose VF will be personally delivering these or hiringing out a courier company to do personal deliveries rather than getting NZ Post to do it.

iPhone 3G|S| – New plans and pricing.. stupid! July 8, 2009

Ok  well to sum it up.. you can pay $130 bucks a month and only get a mere 500MB.

Anyway, on the bright side, its better than what we saw last year.

iPhone 3G|S| – no details on plans; yet July 4, 2009

6 Days to launch, and yet no information from Vodafone NZ regarding plans for the iPhone 3G|S|

After a lot of pressure from the market for Vodafone to reduce prices, especially after the public embarrassment faced on Campbell Live one year ago due the over-exageratted costs for the iPhone 3G when it first came out, lets just see how they react this year. I am pretty sure the plans would be a lot cheaper the the iPhone 3G, especially as the XT network are in negotiation with Apple to launch the phone on their network as well.

As for now.. this is all we get from Vodafone
