iPhone OS 3.1 BETA now available! July 4, 2009

iPhone OS 3.1 BETA | PC World

iPhone OS 3.0 released and Apple start work straight into OS 3.1 which includes fixes and a few new features. Although these haven’t been officially announced by Apple, developers have noted the following changes…

  • [Fix] Voice Control – now over stereo Bluetooth
  • [Feature] “Tactical Feedback” whilst re-arranging app icons (Phone Vibrates)
  • [Feature] Dialer App now converts alpha-numeric numbers. ( 0800-apple to 0800 27753) when pasted into the dialer
  • [Fix] Open GL & Quartz
  • [Feature] Save copy of orignal recording before editing a recording.
  • [Feature] new API for devs to use Video recording features

Although most of the features apply to the iPhone 3G|S|, there is still time before we here for improvements for the other versions so it’s best not to expect much as yet.

When will the OS be available/launched? I predict 4 to 5 months from now. Towards the latter half of the year, maybe an XMAS gift from Apple?

Visual Voicemail in NZ? June 30, 2009

one phrase. not likely! any time soon

Although, Vodafone do have it in their priority list to launch it in New Zealand in due course of time, it doesn’t look like we will be seeing it anytime soon.  Although ,we could expect to before December, chances are dim. Vodafone do not plan to release any information or comment on when they will be offering this service and state they will announce it when the service is ready to offer to their customers.

As far as Telecom’s XT network offering the iPhone 3G|S| goes, (more…)

iPhone 3GS coming to NZ 15th July? June 26, 2009

8GB iPhones are now out of stock (for the time-being i suppose?)
16GB iPhones are now available at the price of  the 8GB iPhone
i.e. $199 on iPhone 130 on 24 Months or $979 out right

From the VF website…

Upgrade to 16GB – get a 16GB
iPhone for the price of an 8GB

ALSO, on the VF’s iPhone website…

FREE Apple Docking stations with every iPhone purchased with an iPhone plan.
Only Online. Offer ends 15/7/09.

Now.. why end that offer in the midst of July, where they say the iPhone 3Gs is going to release?? Coincidence… I think not… Also a ploy to get rid of old iPhone 3G 16Gb stock? As APPLE has discontinued production of those models as well.. the 3GS is coming out… hmm…

15th July.. Maybe 16th, looks very likely! 10th July – CONFIRMED !

See for your selves..Source..

iPhone 3.0 – update information June 18, 2009

From Vodafone…

1. Handset restart: After the phone has been updated to 3.0 and the carrier setting update file is accepted then the iPhone must be manually restarted. This will reset the device to work correctly with MMS and Internet Tethering.

2. If a customer is trying to USB tether with the iPhone on MAC. It is only compatible with OSX Tiger 10.4.11 or OSX Leopard 10.5.7 or later.

3. If you have enabled tethering on your iPhone/computer then as soon as you connect it to your computer it will activate the connection, user is NOT prompted.

So if you want to use it you must make sure that you disable any other internet connection (LAN connection or Airport, Wi-Fi) otherwise the computer cannot determine what connection to use.

If you do not want to use the tethering (i.e. you are just synching content) then you need to disable tethering on the iPhone first.
